This is a simple egg curry that I made a couple of days back. Goda masala gives a very good aroma and taste to this gravy. It goes very well with yellow rice or chapathis.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup fresh/frozen coconut
4 boiled eggs
1 tea spn goda masala
1/4 tea spn tamarind
1/2 tea spn ginger pieces
1/2 tea spn garlic pieces
1/2 tea spn chilli powder (optional)
1/2 cup onion
7-8 curry leaves
A pinch turmeric
Salt

Method:
Dry roast coconut with ginger, garlic and goda masala, tamarind. Grind to a paste.
Heat oil and fry onion. Add the ground paste and enough water to bring to desired gravy consistency. Add turmeric, salt.
Cut the eggs into two and add to gravy, add curry leaves and cook for few minutes.
Serve hot.

Serves : 3-4
Preparation time : 20mins

  4. Hi Shilpa-

My mouth started watering just looking at the picture!! Looks very yummy.
I have a question about this recipe; what do we do with the 1/4 tea spn tamarind, that you mentioned in the ingredients list? Please let me know since I dont see the tamaring mentioned in the method.

    Thanks

Shilpa: Oh sorry. I will update the post.

  6. when you say 3/4 cup coconut what do you mean? Grated fresh coconut or grated dried coconut–both impart very different flavours to curries

  8. Dear Shilpa,

I like Maharashtra food and we prepare few dishes also, as my in-laws are from North Karnataka and there is a similarity in food of Maharashtra.

Can you please name few recipes where we can use Goda Masala. I am not sure whether we can use it for our everyday Sambar, Sabjis etc., or is it used rarely for special or particular recipes only. Please clarify.

    Regards,

    Manjula

Shilpa: It can be added to many dishes (not all). I have a couple of recipes with goda masala on the site. Please use search box to search for them.
