Spinach Cutlet

I am always in search of good spinach recipes. Few days ago, I was chatting with my sister in law and asked her if she had any good recipes with it. She gave me a cutlet recipe. The following is inspired by that. It can be served as a starter at parties too. They get ready very fast and have a great taste.

Ingredients:
1 cup finely chopped spinach
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
1 and 1/2 cups boiled,mashed potatoes
1 tbl spn rice flour
3 green chilies ground into paste
1 tea spn ginger paste
1 tea spn garlic paste
1 tea spn pav bhaji masala (or garam masala)
Oil
Salt
Sooji/rava

Method:
Mix all the ingredients except sooji/rava. Make into ping pong sized balls.
Press each ball into cutlets. Roll these cutlets in sooji/rava.
Spread some oil on a tava and shallow fry the cutlets. Serve hot.

Serves : 2-3
Preparation time : 20mins

  1. hi again, great pic of the whole process of making these healthy cultlets. i fint cutlets really good for kids where they can hold it and eat it.
    I love cutlets in general with tomato as it counters the oil

  2. I love the idea of adding a handful of spinach leaves to everything. For me its carrots, I add some grated carrots to pretty much everything I make :-).

    Can I substitue Suji/Rava with besan. I am gluten intolerant and cannot eat anything that has wheat, rye or barley in it..The cutlets look yummy and I would definitely wanna try them:)

  13. Nice Recipe Shilpa.I tried making cutlets(corn) by rolling them in Sooji(rava).However when I tried shallow frying it, the sooji just dissolved in the oil.What went wrong?

    today i searched ur site for snacks n got this. n tried now only , its really delecious. i used rava+rice floor+chilli powder mixture instead of only rava. and also tasted these cutlets with slasa. its yummyyyyyy thnk u
