My mother in law makes this dish and it is a very tasty side dish and to enhance the taste, you can add finely chopped onions to it along with the cooked ridge gourd pieces. Do not let the pieces become a complete paste.

Varadpachi i made it today, and had a satisfying lunch after ages. So simple and tasty. Goshale tops the list of vegetable my hubby hastes. He too ate with hot rice and did not even touch dalitoy which was also made. I must thank you a lot for reminding of this dish, which i have tasted before (don't recollect which relatives place) but never prepared.

Mai: My sister in law here in Boston is also a big fan of your recipes. She just made this yesterday and invited me for dinner!
It came out fantastic! She gave me left overs too, which I plan on eating tonight with chapattis!

May you continue to inspire her! and may she continue to invite me for dinner! Amen!

This is a yummy dish. i remember my mom makes it. She also makes thuvaiyal (paste like chutney) using ridge gourd peel. For this add a little oil in the pan and add about 1tsp of urad dhal,1 or 2 red chillies. When urad dhal turns to golden color add the rige gourd peel(broken into small pieces) and cook for few minutes. Add 2 tsps of coconut, 1/4 tsp tamarind and salt to taste. Grind to a paste (not very fine). If needed sprinkle little water and grind. You can serve this with idlis and rice.
