Who does not like the beautiful strawberries? I have this uncontrollable love for them, so I buy them almost every time I go for shopping. As far as I have seen, they have pretty short shelf life compared to any other fruits. So if I forget them for a while, I have to throw the entire stock. That happened a couple of times. So this time as soon as I bought them, I made this delicious milkshake for dinner. Yes, dinner :) .

My touch to this simple milkshake was a generous amount of cardamom powder. I was not sure how it would work out. It was just out of the world. Now I know what to do with remaining strawberries.

Ingredients:
2 cups cold milk
3-4 strawberries
1 tbl spn sugar(change according to taste)
1/8 tea spn freshly powdered cardamom

Method:
In a blender, take strawberries, milk and sugar. Blend it for couple of minutes. Now add cardamom and mix.
Serve chilled.

Serves : 2
Preparation time : 2mins

    Hey Shilpa,
Thanks for this recipe.. I am going to try out this for sure. BTW just wanted to know if you know kuvvale sasam? I did not find this in your site. This is a dish that is served at most of the poojas and temples and is quite famous with mlore amchis. Please let me know if you need this recipe. I can also share some recipes with you.Let me know. Your site is just like mini cook book to me..Any tradtional dish i think of making i just refer to u r site and it has never failed me to give a good output. Also what i like about this site is you explain it in such simple words that any one can easily understand. Thanks a lot for putting so much effort.

Shilpa: Ujwal, I have a kuvvale sasam recipe with me with buttermilk in it. I am not sure if that is the one you are talking about. I found it in a Kannada weekly and they have mentioned it is Udupi Brahmin special. Will post it soon. Let me know if that is not what you are talking about.

Lovely, I add more strawberries to mine for a stronger flavour and colour!
I also like strawberry yoghurt. I just take some strawberries and pulse it along with some sugar for a couple of seconds in the mixie. Add it to thick curs and mix well. Serve chilled. Trust me it’s out of this world.

    Shilpa,
I finally made your date-cake this weekend. I reduced the sugar to 1/2 C and oil to 3 T and used about 3-4 T of apple sauce. It was fabulous. I know I’ll be making it again and again. Thanks to you and your aunt for this recipe.

You can add about half a banana to the milkshake to give it the thickness. I like it without the cardamom…
