Strawberry milkshake

Who does not like the beautiful strawberries? I have this uncontrollable love for them, so I buy them almost every time I go for shopping. As far as I have seen, they have pretty short shelf life compared to any other fruits. So if I forget them for a while, I have to throw the entire stock. That happened a couple of times. So this time as soon as I bought them, I made this delicious milkshake for dinner. Yes, dinner
.
My touch to this simple milkshake was a generous amount of cardamom powder. I was not sure how it would work out. It was just out of the world. Now I know what to do with remaining strawberries.
Ingredients:
2 cups cold milk
3-4 strawberries
1 tbl spn sugar(change according to taste)
1/8 tea spn freshly powdered cardamom
Method:
In a blender, take strawberries, milk and sugar. Blend it for couple of minutes. Now add cardamom and mix.
Serve chilled.
Serves : 2
Preparation time : 2mins

Hey Shilpa,
Thanks for this recipe.. I am going to try out this for sure. BTW just wanted to know if you know kuvvale sasam? I did not find this in your site. This is a dish that is served at most of the poojas and temples and is quite famous with mlore amchis. Please let me know if you need this recipe. I can also share some recipes with you.Let me know. Your site is just like mini cook book to me..Any tradtional dish i think of making i just refer to u r site and it has never failed me to give a good output. Also what i like about this site is you explain it in such simple words that any one can easily understand. Thanks a lot for putting so much effort.
Shilpa: Ujwal, I have a kuvvale sasam recipe with me with buttermilk in it. I am not sure if that is the one you are talking about. I found it in a Kannada weekly and they have mentioned it is Udupi Brahmin special. Will post it soon. Let me know if that is not what you are talking about.
Milkshake looks great Shilpa!! I make the exact same way too, agree it tastes too good with elaichi..I made with raspberries today..

Strawberry is my daughter’s fav too and your shake looks “hot”…I mean “cool”

Veds
Strawberries are my fav too…. I like that you have added cardamom..interesting..Beautiful pic….
Love the idea of adding cardamom!
Lovely, I add more strawberries to mine for a stronger flavour and colour!
I also like strawberry yoghurt. I just take some strawberries and pulse it along with some sugar for a couple of seconds in the mixie. Add it to thick curs and mix well. Serve chilled. Trust me it’s out of this world.
I meant CURDS!!
Shilpa,
I finally made your date-cake this weekend. I reduced the sugar to 1/2 C and oil to 3 T and used about 3-4 T of apple sauce. It was fabulous. I know I’ll be making it again and again. Thanks to you and your aunt for this recipe.
Mamatha
I love that photo Shilpa! And I too have tried strawberries with cardamom…very good (it is my favorite of all spices!)
I added few more of strawberries, 1 more spoon sugar. Left it as it is. Later I mashed the strawberries and sieved them into cold milk.
Hey I missed this post!
The strawberry shake looks great, loved your glass n how cutely that lovely red strawberry has been arranged on glass!!!
Elaichi is new addition, shl try for sure (both kids r on strike with eating sb,so shakes r the only way to make them have!) tks for sharing..
Hi Shilpa,
The milkshake looks yummy….Try adding little bit of honey and u can reduce sugar…it tastes good too…
add a scoopof strawberry icecream to make it more tasty
slurp tasty
I was wondering if I could replace sugar by honey to make it more healthy??
will it taste good too??
Shilpa: Give it a try.
You can add about half a banana to the milkshake to give it the thickness. I like it without the cardamom…
It looks very tasty. I will try to make this cocktail at the weekend. Thank you for sharing!
