Wheat cucumber dosa

I love dosas for breakfast. I can’t keep eating same kind of dosas over and over again. So I am in constant search for different varieties. I have tried most of the dosas that I found in different Kannada weeklies and also from TV shows. This is one such recipe that I tried and loved very much.
Usually I don’t prefer anything sweet for breakfast. But when the recipe looks so tempting, I can’t let it go without trying. Its good that I tried it, this turned out to be very delicious. Since it does not involve any planning before, it can be made in very short amount of time. This does not involve any grinding, so saves time there too. In all, this dosa was a huge hit.
Ingredients:
1 cup wheat flour
1/4 cup fresh/frozen coconut
1-2 tbl spns jaggery
1/4 cup grated cucumber
1/4 tea spn cardamom powder
Salt
Ghee
Honey
Method:
Mix together flour, coconut, jaggery, cucumber, cardamom powder and salt with enough water in a bowl. (do not grind it, just mix with a spoon to remove any lumps).
Apply ghee to hot tava and spread dosa. When the bottom side is done, turn over, spread some more ghee and fry till it is done. While serving, spread some honey on it. Serve hot (it does not taste good when cooled, so eat when very hot).
Serves : 2
Preparation time : 20mins
yumm! thumba chenagide Shilpa, you keep reminding be all traditional recipes.!
where is my comment?
Wow, my MIL made this dosa last week and then again, since then i am hooked on to it. She did not add cardamom and jaggery. Must try it and see the difference. Picture looks lovely.
Hey Shilpa, Love your website! Great recipes…remind me of home all the time
You can make mindblowing ‘doddak’ with white part of the watermelon too…:)
Wow Shilpa, I love the look of that dosa it almost looks like gujju pudla that we make with besan. I will try this one too. I tried the eggless date cake and used the pitted dates soaked in milk but my question was do you add the 3/4 cups milk in addition to the milk that was used to soak the pitted dates, my cake came out a little drier so I was wondering about it. I did not add the 3/4 cup milk in addition of the milk for soaking ?? thanks for sharing that recipe too.
Shilpa: No Zobars, there is no extra milk for date cake. Only the milk used for soaking is added for batter.
Hey, I love Cucumber dosa. I add grated cucumber to the normal dosa batter. But w/ wheat i’m sure its even better and healthier!!!! nice pic
Love Godhi dose.Looks yummy Shilpa:))
Oh! I love this dosa. Adding a little bit of maida to this recipe will make silky dosas.
Yeah! Glad you found something you like that is quick and easy to make.
Why does it look yellow? Did you add turmeric powder?
Clueless
Shilpa: Did you try it and get some other color?
