I tried this yesterday..I didnt have poha masala..but after looking at the masala ingredients, i added coriander, cumin, garam masala powders and also little amchur powder for added taste..It was awesome..very tasty and filling..We loved it.. Thanks Shilpa..
and yes, my mom also used to make toast sandwiches using the similar stove top aluminium toaster with potato or any sukka bhaji for after-school evening snacks..After coming home every evening, the first question to mom used to be, " What have u prepared for snacks?" :D
I remember how me and my sister used to be delighted to have those snacks.. I still think, how mom used to prepare different snacks daily apart from the regular lunch/dinner and other chores.. and we wanted variety for lunch or dinner every day!! Really, Moms r great! They do their best to keep kids happy..

Ashu, poha masala is a spice blend that you can make at home with very simple spices. I have given the recipe of poha masala. Please click the link given in ingredients(click on poha masala powder). It has a very different aroma and makes these simple sandwiches very special. I make the powder and store it for months together.

Shilpa....Mother is mother. You made me miss my mom, after reading this write up. Even if we try to make like her there will be something missing, which we cannot do, i guess it is the LOVE. She too used to make this type of sandwitch using the aluminium sandwitch maker. I never knew abt adding powa masala. Thanks for sharing.

A wonderful tribute to your mom, Shilpa. I love when my mom visits too and you are so right - we become kids all over again. I love it when I leave for work and come back home and find that she has made one my favourite dishes. I also make some of the food she cooked for us as children and am always presenting them to her so that she sees that I have learnt well, I had (still have) a great teacher.
