Sweet Corn Soup

Sweet Corn Soup is one of my favourites. I tried many time to get the same taste as they served in restaurants. But could not. So last time when I had brought some corn, I thought of doing some trial and error. This turned out to be great. This had a slight taste like popcorn(I simply love popcorn!!!).The picture has not come well. But I did not wanted to wait till I prepare this next time.
Ingredients :
Sweet corn 2 cups
Soya sauce 1/2 tea spn
Pepper powder 1/2 tea spn
Salt
Method:
Add 2 cups of water to sweet corn and cook till corn becomes slightly tender. Keep aside 2 tea spns of corn and grind the remaining(along with water) to a smooth paste.
Heat the corn paste. Add the reserved cooked corn, salt, pepper and soya sauce. Cook till the soup becomes slightly thick. Serve hot.
Serves : 2
Preparation time : 15min

Hey Shilpa,
Sweet corn is probably the only soup I’ve tried so far. I’ll send you my version of it via e-mail. It looks like the restaurant stuff..you decide if it tastes that way, aswell.

March 28th, 2006 at 2:56 pmBTW..do give a try at this soup. It was really very yummy.
hi shilpa,
I am a regular visitor to your site. tried this soup recipe. but used the canned cream style corn and ground it into a paste. cooked some mixed vegetables in microwave. and added that to this corn paste and rest as you suggested…
came out heavenly.. everyone liked it and kept asking for more. which is usual when you make anything in small portions..:).
they make you feel guilty for cooking less sometimes by asking for more and make you feel angry for cooking more sometimes by not eating at all…:)
thanks,
shobha

Hi Shilpa,
Yesterday night I tried this soup it came out well but while having it, the skin/cover of corns was coming in the mouth which I didn’t like. Is there any way to get rid off that?
Ruchi
Shilpa: Ruchi, either grind it very smooth or strain it in a strainer to remove all the skins.
