Hi Shilpa,
Gulaa ambat is one of our favourites,Gulaa is the eggplant --typical big, round , & green usually add drumsticks to this, but the panna (seasoning) we give is with finely chopped onions in coconut oil , it is usually fried till brown in colour--gives out a great aroma, and tastes different too
I have got into a habit of visiting you everyday now.

Hi Akka,
Nice recipe. My maayi makes daali ambat often. Her masala is similar to yours, but her tadka is of finely chopped onions....shall try it your way once....

Shilpa: Hey Varsha, so nice to see you back. Yes, onion tadka is another way of making dali ambat. Some of the Konkanis don't eat onion, garlic also. They make this version.Try this sometime, you will love it

Hi, your recipes are great. Im a working woman, and need some quick breakfast recipes. Can you please suggest some? I do not get tiem to make dosas & idlis, but somethign similar to upma, poha will help a lot (which takes less time). Thanks a ton!!

Shilpa: Rashmi, there are lot of breakfast recipes on the site. Please go through them and select the ones suitable for you. Most of them are very easy to make. I am also a working woman and leave for office at 7.30AM, I manage to cook these (except for shevayi) in the morning, so I think they are pretty easy to make.

hi,
I want to make dinner for 25 people.I want to know the quantity of food that will be required for it.The dinner plate includes:-alu ki subzi with tomato gravy, roti, sambhar, rice and suji ka halwa.I have never cooked for so many guests and it would be great if you could help me out.

Shilpa: Madhu, it totally depends on whom you have invited. I cannot guess the quantity like that. I am sorry.

Pooja, if the red chilies have become soft, they are roasted to make them crisp and help fast grinding. So if they are very soft, then only roast them.
